This concept album by Nelson recounts a divorce, with side one based on the woman's view and side two from the man's. Nelson has said the tracks reflect the collective emotions of sadness and hurt; they are not autobiographical. It also marks the first album featuring his own band and second on Atlantic. Recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in 1972 and remastered in Nashville in 1974, it was well-received by critics and seen as a turning point for concept albums. Vinyl LP pressing.
