So Much Guitar! #was also Wes' first recording session with Ron Carter, with whom he would collaborate on three more albums. So Much Guitar! #contains the only existing collaboration of the guitarist and drummer Lex Humphries. Of course, all further possible collaborations were brutally cut off by Wes' sudden and unexpected death due to a heart attack on June 15, 1968, at the age of 45.
