Four of the northwest's finest jazz artists reunite on "Motives" for an adventurous recording of original works, including a freewheeling tribute to drummer Ed Blackwell, and melodic pieces flavored by the modern harmonies of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. The disc closes with an impressionistic cover of Billy Strayhorn's "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing." Featuring Seattleites Bill Anschell on piano, Jeff Johnson on bass, and drummer John Bishop, joined by Idaho-based saxophonist Brent Jensen. The four musicians continue to refine the collective artistry displayed on their 2006 debut CD, "One More Mile". This is a very good CD. I enjoy listing to music from the 50's 60's 70' and the 80's.
The CD is very good. I enjoy listing to music from the time I was growing up and while I was in the Air Force.
