A New York based American R&B singer and songwriter blessed with a rich, powerful voice, Vernon Harrell released several singles in the 1960s and 70s and replaced Billy Guy in the 1960s as a member of The Coasters, while Guy was busy working on a solo career. One of Harrell's earliest recordings came in 1963 for the New York City based Beltone Records label with "Beg, Borrow And Steal" b/w "I Had A Dream My Record Was Number One." Side "A" is a rockin' little dance number that shows off Harrell's natural vocal prowess with an incessant beat and plenty of honkin' saxophone. Side "B" is pure popcorn soul complete with female backing vocals. This rare vintage single has been newly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain.
