The Velvet Underground Collected brings together the groundbreaking work of one of the most influential and visionary bands in the history of rock music. Spanning their formative beginnings in New York's underground art scene to their most iconic studio recordings, this 2LP set captures the full scope of a group whose impact continues to echo across decades of rock, alternative, punk, noise and experimental music. The story of The Velvet Underground begins with Lou Reed, a Brooklyn-born songwriter whose early fascination with rock 'n' roll and rhythm & blues shaped his raw, literary approach to music. Reed's partnership with Welsh multi-instrumentalist John Cale built the path towards what would later become The Velvet Underground. Their shared appetite for experimentation, blending minimalism, distortion and poetic realism, laid the foundation for a sound unlike anything else in the 1960s. Joined by guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Maureen Tucker, whose unconventional standing drum style and tom-heavy rhythms became a vital part of the group's music, the band forged a sonic identity that was both abrasive and beautiful. Their early performances in New York's art spaces and clubs caught the attention of Andy Warhol, who became their manager and introduced German singer Nico into the fold. Warhol's involvement elevated the band's profile and led to the creation of their landmark debut, The Velvet Underground & Nico, an album that reshaped the boundaries of rock music. Featuring classics such as "I'm Waiting for the Man", "Venus in Furs", "Heroin" and "All Tomorrow's Parties", the album showcased a band unafraid to confront taboo subjects and explore new sonic territories. Their follow-up, White Light/White Heat, pushed even further into raw, chaotic territory, a record Cale described as "consciously anti-beauty". After Cale's departure, the band shifted toward a more melodic, introspective sound, foreshadowing the songwriting style that would define Reed's career. Despite internal tensions, lineup changes and limited commercial success during their active years, The Velvet Underground's influence grew exponentially over time. The band is now regarded as one of the most influential groups in rock history and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Velvet Underground Collected includes "I'm Waiting for the Man", "Heroin", "White Light/White Heat", "Venus in Furs" and more iconic songs. This Music On Vinyl edition is available as a limited edition of 7,500 individually numbered copies on transparent green coloured vinyl, and includes a 4-page booklet with liner notes.
