Dietrich Buxtehude (1637-1707) was Danish-born, but made his career in Germany. He was celebrated as an organist (JS Bach was among his admirers) and as a composer, with many sacred vocal works in his output. The works in this collection range from chamber-scale music to grandly conceived pieces for soloists, choir and instruments.
