The Black Crowes were at a fascinating crossroads in 2001, touring behind "Lions" while drawing deep from a catalog that had already made them standard-bearers for American rock rooted in Southern soul, gospel, and the Rolling Stones' loosest grooves. Chris and Rich Robinson always built their live shows around feel over precision, and that improvisational generosity translates beautifully to vinyl, where the dynamics of a real room have room to breathe.
