After the tragic passing of guitarist Alex Nelson, long-running heavy metal/shock rock band Lizzy Borden broke up in 2004. In the wake of this split, vocalist Lizzy Borden, bassist Marten Andersson, and drummer Joey Scott formed a new project, joined by guitarist Joe Steals, which led to the creation of Starwood. Their only release, 2004's If It Ain't Broke, Break It! #on Metal Blade Records, marked a departure from Lizzy Borden's theatrical metal, embracing the raw spirit of glam, punk, and hard rock. Starwood's sound captures the streetwise edge of bands like Hanoi Rocks and New York Dolls, with punk's grit and the showmanship of Kiss and Motley Crüe.
