Soumitra Lahiri is a sitar player trained in the dhrupad-based Vishnupur Gharana style, and influenced by sitarist Nikhil Banerjee and vocalist Amir Khan. He is an artist willing to step beyond familiar territory and apply his musical vision to ideas from stylistic traditions beyond his own. Soumitra offers a lyrical, leisurely, vocal style rendition of the morning raga Ahir Lalit, and a waltz-like rendition of a Bhairavi thumri often sung by Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.

This is a very good CD. I enjoy listing to music from the 50's 60's 70' and the 80's.
The CD is very good. I enjoy listing to music from the time I was growing up and while I was in the Air Force.
