Jeffrey Foskett spent decades as the secret weapon in Brian Wilson's live band, the voice audiences heard holding the high harmonies together on tours that meant everything to fans who grew up with those songs. A tireless presence in the California pop lineage, he earned his place not through association alone but through a genuine understanding of the craft at the heart of that music. This anthology finally gives him the solo spotlight he's long deserved.
First ever career anthology of Jeffrey Foskett; Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys' "Vice-Principal." Lead track ("Mary Honey") is a previously unissued, and never before heard Brian Wilson song. Guest appearances from Brian Wilson, Mike Love, America, Robert Lamm (Chicago), Christopher Cross, Los Straightjackets, and more. Over a dozen previously unissued recordings. "Jeff's voice is one of the top five greatest voices I've ever heard, because of the way he expresses himself. It blows me away" -Brian Wilson. Born and bred in the Golden State of California, Jerey Foskett and his angelic voice were destined to be part of the California Sound forever. An early acolyte of The Beach Boys and the music of Brian Wilson, Foskett was serendipitously "discovered" by Beach Boys lead singer, Mike Love, in a bar in Santa Barbara in the early 1980s. Sadly, after a lengthy battle with throat cancer, Jerey Foskett passed away in December of 2023. Omnivore Recordings, in association with The Jerey Foskett Estate, is very proud to announce the release of Something There - Remembering Jeffrey Foskett. A loving tribute to the voice of an angel. This 25 song collection contains several key Foskett recordings ("I Live For The Sun," "Everybody," "Something There"), rare alliances with Robert Lamm of Chicago and Christopher Cross, and previously unissued collaborations with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, America, and Los Straitjackets. More than half of the recordings included are previously unissued. So please sit back, take a load off your feet and find out why Goldmine once described Foskett as "Quite simply, the best kept secret in Pop Music!"... there is definitely "something there!"
