Previously unreleased and recorded in 2021 during the sessions that produced 2022's Under A Winter's Moon, Loreena McKennitt's other-worldly performance of this popular hymn to global peace is accompanied by cellist Caroline Lavelle and describes the stillness and wonder of Christmas via its uniquely ethereal soundscape.
The Silent Night 7" single features the two encore tracks not included as part of the original album release. The King, the B-side of Silent Night, is a traditional, rustic English song celebrating the new year and sung here by the whole company in wassail style accompanied by Loreena on the accordion. Among the performers is Cedric Smith who appeared on Loreena's debut recording Elemental and her studio recording of The King from 1987's To Drive The Cold Winter Away. The single is housed in a full-colour picture sleeve and is available only while stocks last.
