Shaped in the crucible of Matthew Katz's San Francisco roster and driven by a band wrestling openly with identity, faith, and artistic control, this record stands as one of the few surviving documents of band and their attempts to carve genuine meaning from the chaos of the West Coast psych movement. Tripsichord, earlier known as Tripsichord Music Box before shortening their name, emerged as a unique voice in the vibrant San Francisco psychedelic rock scene of the 1960s, managed by the influential Matthew Katz, who also worked with Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, and It's a Beautiful Day. They released one self-titled album and a couple of singles on Katz's San Francisco Sound label, which saw a major label release on Janus Records the following year.
