Co-written by Percy, "When a Man Loves a Woman" launched the Alabama-born singer's career in '66. Still a powerful force on the soul scene, Sledge scored a Grammy nomination in 1994 for his most recent solo album. This Very Best of set contains 17 tracks spanning 1966-94 including such top hits as "Warm And Tender Love," "Take Time to Know Her" and more, plus both versions of "When a Man Loves a Woman" (the unreleased track features the horns in tune - the out of tune version, released by mistake, became the hit).
