Oscar Peterson spent decades redefining what was possible at the keyboard, leaving behind a compositional legacy that often got overshadowed by the sheer force of his playing. Gathering this many piano voices in one room, on Peterson's own Bösendorfer, turns a tribute into something closer to a conversation across generations, with artists who knew him personally bringing fresh ears to melodies that deserved wider attention long before now.

The widow of this unparalleled piano virtuoso put together this project, centering it around the thing Oscar loved most in the world: his prized personal Bösendorfer Imperial piano. Kelly Peterson invited a host of jazz luminaries to Oscar's home studio to shine a light on Oscar Peterson, composer (most of these pieces were written by Oscar and many were never recorded). You'll hear Oscar's pieces and his piano, too, under the hands of Chick Corea, Kenny Barron, Ramsey Lewis, Michel Legrand, Hiromi, Monty Alexander, Bill Charlap, Benny Green and more. This 2015 set-3-CD standard or deluxe edition, which includes an extensive commemorative book with 100 pages of detailed notes and a downloadable bonus track-now returns to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Peterson's passing. This is special: "The Contessa," "Celine's Waltz," "Bossa Beguine," "If I Love Again," "Tranquille," "Morning," "Hymn to Freedom," "If You Only Knew," "Dream of Me," "Ballad for Benny Carter" and more including pieces written for Oscar by some of his closest friends in music.
