On Continental, songwriter Jérôme Didelot fashions guitars, strings, vibraphone and a contingent of vintage electronics (Moog, Farfisa and Stylophone) into lush harmonies and evocative instrumentals while fashioning a lyrical world: Continental is an imaginary country, torn by tradition and nationalism and in decline, somewhere in the heart of Europe. With lyrics entirely in English this time around, the one exception being the trilingual title track, sung in English, French and German, Continental is an ideal entry point into the pleasure that is Orwell.
