Double LP version. Britain's The Orb - aka Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann - are one of the most influential electronic acts to grace Kompakt. Okie Dokie It's The Orb on Kompakt is the duo's thirteenth album, and it proves to be a sonic collage of intensive, lovingly-conjured quiet ambience. The first half of Okie Dokie showcases The Orb's love for minimal techno as still as water and schaffel/shuffle, while the second half is reserved for the classic Orb-ish ancestral domain of trance-inducing, pulsating ambience. There are wonderful guest appearances by Schneider TM and Kompakt's ambient-guru Ulf Lohmann. Ever since Jimmy Cauty and Alex Paterson, in the flush of euphoria, invented Chill Out and Ambient House during that summer of love in 1988, The Orb have brought the hum of the galaxy to living rooms and clubs like the good cosmic soldiers they are.
