Omar Kent Dykes gathered a group of his best friends to release a cover album of their favorite tracks by some of their favorite blues greats. Many of the same talented artists appeared with Omar on his previous release, on the Jimmy Reed Highway. Gathering to record Big Town Playboy are guests Jimmie Vaughan, James Cotton, Lazy Lester, Gary Clark, Jr.., Lou Ann Barton, Derek O'Brien, Wes Starr, and Ronnie James. This release includes songs written by Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, and Jimmy McCracklin. Smoking guitar by Jimmie Vaughan and Omar combined with blazing harmonica by James Cotton and Lazy Lester make this release one of Omar's most memorable projects. Gary Clark, Jr.. played guitar and harmonica on King Bee, and Lou Ann Barton sang duets with Omar on Think and Close Together.
