Slainte, the release from Oliver Burdo is the debut disc from the singer-songwriter. An album recorded in his attic displays his elegant use of metaphors, while maintaining a humanistic quality that keeps the songs grounded. The independant production and DIY style created a sound that is not unlike that of Bright Eyes, Neutral Milk Hotel, or Death Cab for Cutie; meanwhile the songwriting and song structures have elements of some Blues and Folk stars. The combination of these creates a mix of old and new that almost begs the phrase 'In with the old, out with the new'.
