Jim White was a magical realist country singer. He had been a cab driver, male model, short order cook and a 1000 other things (but never a performing musician!), when we signed him. This record was produced by the UK band Morcheeba who saw Jim open on a David Byrne tour in London and fell for him. Jim was and is a character who literally has an amazing story for every moment of the day. In fact that used to be a high point of seeing him, beset by a technical difficulty of some kind or other Jim would launch into an amazing story that could involve Samuel Beckett and ugly shirts his sister used to send him for his birthday. This album "No Such Place" was named when Kara Finlay, David Byrne's Australian born assistant, thought that Jim lived in Pensacola Texas, and Jim said "No Such Place." Hope you enjoy it.
