Bob Gordon was one of the busiest baritone players in Los Angeles before his tragic death 1n 1955. This great recording from 1954 features his playing with the George Redman sextet. Along with the George Redman session, this CD also contains the 1954 Bob Enevoldsen Quintet recording from the same year. Bob Enevoldsen, best known for valve trombone, was also very capable on bass, and tenor sax. His session is a great display of doubling by most concerned: Red Mitchell plays piano and bass, Marty Paich plays several keyboards, and Larry Bunker covers the vibes and drums. Both recordings were originally released as Tampa 14 and Tampa 15. Great sessions.
