After joining the 13 part north west A Capella group, The Portland Timbre, and linking up with the talented vocal percussionist/singer/music director, Ian Adams-Dirks, Mike Bars recorded the amazing all A Capella version of Grown Folks. Using only voices, and NO INSTRUMENTS, Mike and the Timbre have created a masterpiece in A Capella/ Hip Hop cross overs. But Mike didn't stop there - to give his fans something just a little extra, he produced an uptempo rendition to his original classic - The Grown Folks Remix. The beat is faster, busier, and more electronic, resembling something of a late 90s Twista hip hop track, rather than something out of 2012 -- except for the modern dub step wobbles added in every so often just to spice things up a bit. Finally, to top it all off, included in this magnificent EP is a bonus track called 'Hip Hop' which Mike actually recorded for a project in his High School English class. The song is rough, uncut, and clearly shows Mike's 'underground' hip hop appeal and raw lyricism that some may have missed in the different versions of Grown Folks.
