Mickey Champion started singing as a child in Lake Charles, Louisiana. An immediate sensation, she was discovered by the famed bandleader Johnny Otis at a weekly talent show presented by the Largo Theater in Los Angeles. Upon joining his band, she toured the country with Billie Holiday, Ike and Tina Turner, Big Mama Thornton, T-Bone Walker and other stars of the day. Now Mickey returns with a comeback studio CD featuring Grammy winner Keb' Mo', plus musicians from the Eagles, the Carole King Band, the Dianne Reeves Band and musical director Alex Schultz on guitar. Mickey presents original material as well as tunes by legendary songwriters Leiber and Stoller, John Tiven and Georgina Moore.
