The third of his middle symphonies trilogy of inner-focused personal trauma, turmoil and triumph, Mahler's Seventh Symphony is one of his most interesting and, of the purely instrumental symphonies, arguably houses among his most experimental orchestral writing, most notably the two "Nachtmusik" movements.
