40th Anniversary Edition. Few bands captured the theatrical danger, speed, and raw electricity of mid-'80s American metal quite like Lizzy Borden. The Murderess Metal Road Show documents the band at a moment when everything was clicking-songs sharpened by the stage, performances fueled by chaos, and a reputation that was spreading fast through the Los Angeles metal underground.Recorded live at Chuck Landis' Country Club in Reseda, California on Friday, December 13, 1985, this album arrived astonishingly early in the band's career-just one EP and one studio album in. Instead of waiting years to issue a live release, Lizzy Borden chose to capture the intensity of their shows while the danger still felt real. The result is one of the most overlooked but essential live metal albums of the era.The set explodes out of the gate with "Council for the Cauldron, " instantly locking into fast, aggressive California metal driven by razor-sharp riffs and Lizzy's unmistakable voice-part Halford scream, part Dickinson drama, part pure menace. Tracks like "Warfare, " "No Time to Lose, " and "Psychopath" showcase a band firing on all cylinders, while the theatrical pairing of "Psychopath" into "Love You to Pieces" mirrors the band's infamous stage show, where shock, story, and performance were inseparable. The album also includes a blistering cover of Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die, " recorded years before Guns N' Roses made the song famous, as well as "(Wake Up) Time to Die, " inspired by the cult sci-fi classic Blade Runner. The show closes with "American Metal, " a song that would go on to become the most frequently performed track of Lizzy Borden's career-and the perfect anthem to end a live set built on volume, spectacle, and conviction. This Blood Moon Swirl edition presents The Murderess Metal Road Show as a deluxe 2-LP gatefold vinyl release, pressed in a striking Blood Moon Swirl colorway and limited to 400 copies worldwide. Featuring the full live performance across two LPs, this edition captures the raw power, theatrical intensity, and larger-than-life presence of Lizzy Borden at their mid-'80s peak. The audio has been mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell (Helstar, Voivod, Lizzy Borden, Starwood), delivering power, clarity, and punch while preserving the raw live atmosphere. Officially licensed from Metal Blade Records, this marks the first time The Murderess Metal Road Show has ever been reissued on vinyl.Seventeen tracks are included in total, with tracks 16-17 being studio recordings, rounding out the release with added depth and historical context. A live document of Lizzy Borden in the band's theatrical prime-young, hungry, raw, aggressive, and unforgettable. This isn't nostalgia; it's the show.
