Rated by Living Blues Magazine, Road Show Blues was described as "One of John Mayall's most live wire, throat-grabbing blues sets." His third album for DJM Records, it was mainly recorded at Media Art Studio in Hermosa Beach, California. It features live versions of the Jimmy Reed cover "Baby, What You Want Me to Do" and Mayall's own composition "Mexico City", both cut at the Golden Bear Club, Huntingdon. With guitarist James Quill Smith offering a trademark solo on A Big Man, along with the whole band stoking up the heat on the tribute that is John Lee Boogie you have an album that more than justifies a re-issue
