Pianist Johannes Wallmann’s tenth album, Precarious Towers, introduces a new high-octane quintet featuring Downbeat “Rising Star” alto saxophonist Sharel Cassity, vibraphonist Mitch Shiner, bassist John Christensen and drummer Devin Drobka. Forged during the pandemic, Wallmann's tunes take inspiration from family playtime, social isolation, and the election, as well as an homage to McCoy Tyner and a Frank Zappa inspired closer to the set.
