Jim came to sing at our place in Sharon some years back, along with a bunch of Californians called the Portable Folk Festival. We immediately invited him to come back and make this recording. When he did, he brought along Mary McCaslin, Jon Wilcox, and Jay Unger to help. Partway through the session, Utah Phillips showed up to blow some mouth harp on one of his own songs that Jim was recording. As they say, a good time was had by all.
