Recorded on November 11, 1993 at the Providence Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island, GarciaLive Volume 11 captures the Jerry Garcia Band on their final East Coast tour — and Jerry Garcia's last-ever performance in Providence. Featuring the band's most celebrated lineup: Jerry Garcia on guitar and vocals, Melvin Seals on keyboards, John Kahn on bass, David Kemper on drums, and Gloria Jones and Jaclyn LaBranch on vocals.
The show opens with two Garcia/Hunter JGB classics — "Cats Under the Stars" and "Mission in the Rain" — before rolling through a setlist full of cookers, covers, and surprises. Set two brings a jubilant "The Way You Do the Things You Do," the rarely performed Van Morrison gem "He Ain't Give You None," a seamless pairing of the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" into Smokey Robinson's "When the Hunter Gets Captured by the Game," and a sprawling "Don't Let Go" before the show closes with the bluegrass staple "Midnight Moonlight" — Garcia's folk roots coming full circle on his final night in the city.
