On August 29, 1987, Jerry Garcia led both the Jerry Garcia Band and the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band for performances at French's Camp on the Eel River in Piercy, California. He brought the JGB back to the scenic Northern California venue on June 10, 1989 and August 10, 1991 — and all three electric sets are captured here across this 6-CD box set.
Featuring Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, Melvin Seals, David Kemper, Jaclyn LaBranch, and Gloria Jones, Electric on the Eel presents the JGB in their element: an intimate outdoor setting, deep setlists, and the kind of loose, soulful energy that made this band a beloved institution in its own right. Highlights across the three shows include scorching runs through "Don't Let Go," "Tangled Up in Blue," "The Harder They Come," and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," alongside JGB staples like "Mission in the Rain," "Deal," and "Waiting for a Miracle." This is a very good CD. I enjoy listing to music from the 50's 60's 70' and the 80's.
