Presented here is Martial Solal's complete original soundtrack to Jean-Luc Godard's legendary 1960 film A bout de souffle (premiered in the United States as Breathless). The movie is about a wandering criminal (Jean-Paul Belmondo) and his American girlfriend (Jean Seberg). It was Godard's first featurelength work and represented Belmondo's breakthrough as an actor. The film was one of the earliest, most influential examples of French New Wave (nouvelle vague) cinema. That soundtrack is coupled here with music composed by Michel Legrand for two other Godard films, Une femme est une femme (1961) and Vivre sa vie (1962).
