This release of Aaron Copland's orchestral works follows a highly successful recording of the composer's ballet music led by American music specialist, John Wilson. This program is unique, and Mr. Wilson has chosen works which best highlight Copland's personal, unique, and sometimes unorthodox compositional language. From the twenty Orchestral Variations on an original theme, which was originally written for the piano, to the controversial Symphonic Ode, Copland's fingerprint is all over these works. Also featured is Copland's early work Symphony for Organ and Orchestra, which is much less performed than the other pieces on this release. The organ soloist is Jonathan Scott, who made his concert premiere in 2014 at the Royal Albert Hall.
