J.S. Bach's six sonata cycle for violin and harpsichord were considered in his lifetime to be watershed compositions and among his best works, and the eminent violinist Erich Höbarth and young Finnish harpsichordist Aapo Häkkinen present a captivating collection filled with superb ensemble playing that highlights not just the exquisite majesty of these works but the considerable gifts that each musician brings with great distinction. Featuring the uncommon 16 foot harpsichord played by Häkkinen, which possesses an additional lower register and is reportedly the same kind of harpsichord Bach composed the sonatas on which provides an expanded sonic palette and listening experience.

This is a very good CD. I enjoy listing to music from the 50's 60's 70' and the 80's.
