Originally released by Blue Note in 1961 "On the Spur of the Moment" reunites Horace Parlan, an American hard bop and post-bop piano player known his contributions to the classic Charles Mingus recordings Mingus "Ah Um" and "Blues & Roots" with his longtime rhythm section of George Tucker on drums and Al Harewood on bass. The group is rounded out by Stanley Turrentine on tenor sax and Tommy Turrentine on trumpet. Contains 8 tracks including 2 Bonus Tracks: "On the Spur of the Moment" (Alternate Take) and "Pyramid" (Alternate Take). The definitive versions of Blue Note are on XRCD24 - the optimization of CD mastering and manufacturing. Plays on all standard CD players.
