The Odd River is Finnish-born Melbourne bassist-vocalist-composer Helen Svoboda's surreal musical exploration of humanity's relationship with nature and the generational malaise surrounding climate change. Featuring a large ensemble of some of Australia's most eclectic improvisers, the soundtrack journeys through moments of startling beauty, childlike playfulness and dense chaos. The Odd River showcases Svoboda's quirky compositional style, cycling through a rapidly changing landscape with an eclectic instrumentation of double bass, voice, prepared piano, harmonium, zither, trombone, piccolo trumpet, woodwinds, percussion and virtuosic whistling.
