The story behind the God Bullies album ‘Kill The King’ is as unconventional as the band's sound itself. While shopping around the recording sessions for the THRALL ‘Chemical Wedding’ album to Biafra's label, Alternative Tentacles, the conversation took an unexpected turn. "Jello suggested doing a God Bullies album first," recalls Mike Hard, "to draw attention to THRALL, my new recording project, at that time. After some wrangling I was able to unite the original God Bullies members for this release."

The album ‘Kill The King’ marks a significant evolution from the band's earlier DIY recordings. While those initial sessions were defined by their raw creativity and inventive spirit, the opportunity to work at a professional caliber studio for the first time was an exciting experience. Mike Hard explains: "The same team that recorded, engineered and produced Thrall ‘Chemical Wedding’ worked on ‘Kill the King’ and the results are noticeable. This is one of my favorite God Bullies albums," Hard notes, "because it is so sonicly different from the earlier recordings".

The album showcases the band's evolved ferocity. Tracks like ‘King of Sling’ and ‘How Many Times’ remain fan favorites and staples of their live set to this day. ‘Space Kid Zoom’ explores a more psychedelic side of the band's persona, while ‘Jack Off” delivers a characteristically blunt and points a giant appendage at God Bullies’ favorite target. A special highlight is the David B. Livingstone mix of ‘Hate,’ a masterclass in layering samples with spoken word that stands as some of his finest production work.
