George Williams - Shades [CD]

George Williams is the golden voiced lead singer of The Tymes, the famous hit vocal band from Philadelphia, USA, whose hit recordings we all know so well, such as, "So Much In Love", "Wonderful, Wonderful", "People", "Somewhere", "You Little Trustmaker", "Ms. Grace", "God's Gonna Punish You", "Only Your Love", "Baby It's Cool", to name but a few, and of course several hit albums. The Tymes originally started in 1958, when all the main vocal groups were emerging, so you can hear years of experience in George's rich voice, clearly one of the best to emerge from the band. George is married to an English lady Lorraine, and has two children, Stephanie and Courtney, all living in England, a country George really likes. This album project "Shades" is George's first real solo album in the 2Soul" vein, although there are other influences. It took some 4 years to put together and was originally titles "George Hits Back" after Georges Struggle with cancer. George is a prolific songwriter as The Tymes "So Much In Love", also recorded by Art Garfunkle has proved, and the new song on this alum "That's What Friends Are For" will clearly demonstrate. George gained international prominence when he and The Tymes signed with R.C.A. From that union emerged the celebrated and ever popular "You Little Trustmaker" and "Ms. Grace", which made Top Ten in both Rhythm and Blues record charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Since settling in the United Kingdom, George has been busily engaged in nightclub cabaret, radio work and commercial voice-overs. He has toured throughout England, Europe, India, America and the Far East. George Williams magic voice has captured many new friends and fans around the world, proving that quality never goes out of fashion. Of his period with The Tymes, George says; "The were interesting formative years, but life goes on and I have been feeling restless for some time when old friends from the Prestige organisation approached me with a view to recording again". The result of that well-timed connection is Georges first solo album "Shades". Commenting on the title George says; "every song on the album has a different character and I have taken a different approach to each one". "Shades" is indeed an album of tremendous musical diversity, encompassing Soul, Semi-Classical, Semi-Jazz, Easy Listening and Rock 'n' Roll. It is an album for every mood, encapsulating the spirit of the man and his music.
