George Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, he received the National Medal of Arts, the Kennedy Center Honors, and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and that names only a few of his many accolades. Jones was born in Saratoga, Texas on September 12, 1931. He was one of eight children raised in a family who shared a love of music. In his early teens George first played music in the street and bars in Beaumont, Texas. By age 19 Jones had been heard singing on the radio, gotten married, had a child, gotten divorced, and joined the Marines.
