EARTHWORM ENSEMBLE is folk country rockin' children's music featuring I See Hawks In L.A., The Chapin Sisters, Mike Stinson, and two of Southern California's coolest roots musicians: David Jackson and Brantley Kearns, vets of John Denver, Dwight Yoakam, and Emmylou Harris. The music is driving, sometimes wistful and ethereal, and always authentic. These are soulful and deep folk, bluegrass, old timey, and New Orleans funky styles played right and righteous (there's even a hip hop song featuring Sly Stone bassist Jimi Hawes). Witty verses teach how to make pizza, and how to cook corn if it's straight from the farmer's market. There are songs about trains, birds, buffalo migration, the earthworm's role in the earth's life cycle, an eco super hero bear and dog team, and a spaghetti western ballad on the magic of walking in the woods. A sweet lullabye about flying through space closes out the CD. This who's who of California folk/country also includes Discovery Science Channel host and country rapper Zachariah and TexMex/bluegrass vocalist Christina Ortega. Rocking guitars, fiddles, steel guitar, accordion, psychedelic bass and drum from some of L.A.'s best session players, and rich vocal harmonies make Earthworm Ensemble a new standout in children's music.
