The Doctor is returning to Gallifrey with the remains of his arch-nemesis, the Master, when the TARDIS is forced off course and lands in San Francisco on New Year’s Eve 1999. Critically wounded in a gangland gun battle, the Doctor is taken to a local hospital where Dr. Grace Holloway fights—and fails—to save him.
But in the morgue, the Doctor wakes up a new man. He’s not the only one. The Master has also found a new body, and as the clock ticks toward the new millennium, the Doctor must stop his oldest enemy before all life on Earth is destroyed.
