It was a rare occurrence when David Susskind lost control of his guests but on November 29, 1970, Susskind booked Mel Brooks, David Steinberg, George Segal, Stan Herman, Dan Greenburg and Larry Goldberg for a panel entitled How to Be a Jewish Son aka My Son, the Success. Utilizing his usual sparse set, it was quickly apparent that the 'inmates were running the asylum. Led by Mel Brooks manic brilliance, the show became an instant subject of conversation, starting with an explosion of phone calls the morning after the show, with callers stating the show was vile, vulgar, disgraceful and saying the show was the most insulting thing Mr. Susskind has ever done.
