Davenport Johnson - Squinch [CD]

Make another. : o) " All the songs on Davenport Johnson's debut EP "Squinch" are original instrumentals and every track features Ukulele as the lead instrument. Many have layers of ukes with rhythm guitar for a sound that's often called americana by their fans, although there's a lot of folk-rock influences as well as jazz influences in the leads. The sound ranges from an absolutely acoustic uke sound, like the duets "Monkey Washing Cat," "Lullaby for a Black Balloon," "Back from Nowhere" and the layers of ukes in "Compass Rose" to the all out "anything-but-standard" electric ukulele of the title track "Squinch."
