The Chicago Cellar Boys have been electrifying audiences in Chicago and beyond since 2017 with raw, invigorating "hot" jazz of the 1920s - think King Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Teschemacher, Clarence Williams, Bennie Moten, and Jimmie Noone. The GOOD stuff. The quintet includes seasoned professionals who have toured and recorded with Leon Redbone and Vince Giordano and been featured in the hit HBO series "Boardwalk Empire." In "Busy 'til Eleven," the Cellar Boys offer a generous sampling of jazz and pop tunes of the 1920s and early '30s, ranging from hot to sweet and from such favorites as "The Sheik (of Araby)," "Sweet Lorraine," and "Hot Lips" to forgotten gems like Cliff Jackson's "The Terror" and Fats Waller's "Off Time." Personnel: Andy Schumm (cornet, clarinet, tenor saxophone); John Otto (clarinet, alto saxophone); Paul Asaro (piano, vocals); John Donatowicz (banjo, guitar); Dave Bock (tuba). CD includes a 16-page color booklet with extensive commentary by Andy Schumm. 21 tracks. 69 minutes.
