Standing as a perfect introduction into the early years of this incredible band, 'People Get Ready' is the first of a handful of early live albums by The Chambers Brothers, recorded in concert at the Ash Grove in Los Angeles and the Unicorn in Boston in 1965. Even at this early date in their history, they Brothers were out to prove they were a cut above the rest with their commanding and exciting presence on-stage. Purely an R&B outfit at the time (with their psychedelic stylings developing a couple of years down the line), their unmistakable sound can be found on their performances of The Valentinos' hit 'It's All Over Now' and Curtis Mayfield's 'People Get Ready' as well as standout hits 'Yes Yes Yes' and 'Tore Up Over You'.
