Born in Giessen, the son of a state rabbi, Hermann Levi was the Royal General Music Director in Munich for over 20 years. The friend and confidante of Brahms and Clara Schumann turned more and more to Richard Wagner - and in 1882 conducted the World premiere of the "Bühnenweihfestspiel" Parsifal in Bayreuth. 2019 was the 180th anniversary of Hermann Levi's birthday - high time for the first recording of his songs! Bass-Baritone Rene Perler and pianist Edward Rushton are the chosen interpreters of this music.
