Jefferson was one of the most influential artists of the blues' first flowering in the 1920s. His records were best sellers for Paramount throughout the 1920s, and he and Ma Rainey were responsible for putting the label on the map. Black Swan, the label that reissues original Paramount material, presents 20 of Jefferson's best sides, compiled from the cleanest available copies of some extremely rare 78s.
