Founded by Bruce Iglauer out of sheer necessity in 1971, Alligator Records became the most important independent blues label in America by simply refusing to let the music die. This two-disc collection draws from a roster that reads like a who's who of postwar electric blues, artists like Hound Dog Taylor, Koko Taylor, Albert Collins, and Lonnie Brooks who kept the flame burning when the mainstream had long moved on.
