Mike Cooper is a pioneer of the 60s British blues boom and one of the few who actually played with delta blues legends such as Son House and Fred McDowell. Through unconventional musical approaches, such as free improvisation, free jazz and extended electro-acoustic techniques he has developed an original "deep blues" language. With "Truth in the Abstract Blues", Cooper's slide guitar and vocals are joined by the uniquely broad freestyle percussion of Fabrizio Spera and the entrancing voice of Leila Adu. a trip into the depths where the timeless classics of blues legends such as Skip James, Bessie Smith and Robert Johnson meet sound layers, loops, drones, electro-acoustic textures and minimal grooves.
